More from Andrew Barrow’s South African wine expedition. This time, he visited Kleine Zalze Estate, on the outskirts of Stellenbosch in the direction of Somerset West.

Andrew Barrow of Spittoon.biz has recently concluded his trip of South Africa and had quite a few things to say about some of our wines.

The cork eased out with no difficulty and was in the perfect condition. It looked as if the wine hadn’t even started to saturate the cork. The first bit was poured, it got swirled and tasted and the nod was given.

The big discussion amongst many of the wine makers we met covered the Cape Blend ‘ideal’. Should Pinotage be included being the main discussion point.

Ranging from the breathtaking scenery to the Latin inspired menu at the Cosecha Restaurant and their quality, affordable wines, Noble Hill seems to present just about every unique characteristic that makes up the core of every wine lover.

Tasting a few of the wines reminded me how beautifully smooth and gentle the mousse is of real Champagne. The wines were dry, light and crisp – just calling to be paired with oysters or scallops.
